A rarely seen collection of garden themed artworks will be on display at Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House this spring.

About this event

Margaret Stoddart and Kate Sheppard were enrolled together at the Canterbury College School of Arts in its opening year of1882 - their names listed together in the morning class rollbook.

Courtesy of the University of Canterbury's Macmillan Brown Library, this roll book, along with 6 of Stoddart's garden themed watercolours, is available for viewing in the exhibition space at Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House.

Exhibition Dates, Times and Pricing

Viewing hours are 10am - 4pm, Wednesday to Sunday, until Sunday 12 December 2021.

Entry to the exhibition is free of charge. Normal admission charges apply for the Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House visitor experience.

Due to the small exhibition space, 30 minute sessions will be available for one bubble at a time on the hour and half hour.

Please note, if a session is not showing as available, it has been fully booked.

Please be patient with us if we ask you to enter the exhibition through the rear doors during Level 2 as we may already have guests in the visitor experience.

We recommend booking in advance as spaces are limited at Level 2.

Parking

There is no parking onsite, so please find a park in the surrounding streets or at the University of Canterbury's Clyde Carpark on Arts Road (free on weekends).

Wheelchair accessible, please call 03 341 1360 to book accessible car parking (limited spaces available onsite).

Alert level 2 updates

Under Delta Alert Level 2, visitors to Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House will be required to:

  • Sign in using the QR code or manual sign in sheet
  • Wear a face covering
  • Keep a 2m distance from staff and other visitors who are not in your bubble
  • Stay home if you are unwell

To keep you safe, we are cleaning regularly and thoroughly, including in between each session.

Please wait at the front or rear door for staff to allow you inside.
