Description

New Zealand's Family Violence Epidemic

What can be done? Evidence-based Solutions

New Zealand continues to have one of the highest rates of family violence in OECD countries. Both child abuse and intimate partner violence rates are at epidemic proportions.

Family violence and its negative consequences are treatable and preventable. Family violence affects health, mental health, substance abuse, employment, and many other factors. More than half of all reported crime in New Zealand is family violence.

Join Dr Ruth Gammon for the third of the Massey University College of Humanities and Social Sciences and PNCSC 2017 research forums. Dr Gammon will review New Zealand research on family violence, its impact and present evidence-based multi-systemic models, such as the National Wraparound Inititative (NWI) for wraparound treatment and prevention.

This forum will be followed by a Q& A and nibbles. Please stay and join us.
