Our Online Distance Open Day will provide you with information to support your journey as a distance university student. Join us at one of our two online sessions, 11am or 7pm on Thursday 4 September 2025.

Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa Massey University is renowned for its distance education offerings, and has a long history of providing flexible learning options enabling students to fit study around their busy lives.

During Online Distance Open Day, you'll hear information about:

  • Where to start: What to apply for, where and how to apply. Whether you are keen to study just one course or are interested in a lengthier qualification, we’ll talk you through mapping out your learning journey.
  • Financing your study: You'll learn about various scholarships, grants and financial aid options available to support your educational aspirations. Our expert advisors will provide practical tips and strategies to help you navigate the financial aspects of your studies.
  • The reality of time management: Time is a precious resource and effective time management is key to achieving your goals. Our experienced staff will share real-life examples of what balancing your study workload alongside life is really like.

Throughout the event, you will have the opportunity to connect with our college staff, enthusiastic current students and dedicated support staff who are ready to answer all your questions and guide you through choosing the right programme for your interests and career goals.

Who is this event for?

Anyone considering studying by distance with Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa Massey University — whether you’re exploring a single course or a full qualification, returning to study, or looking to upskill alongside work and whānau.

When are the sessions, and do I need to attend both?

There are two identical live sessions on Thursday 4 September 2025 at 11:00am NZT and 7:00pm NZT. Attend the time that suits you — you don’t need to join both.

What will I learn?

We’ll cover where to start (what to apply for and how to apply), financing your study (scholarships, grants and StudyLink), and the reality of time management (balancing study with life, weekly workload examples, and practical tools).

How long is it and what’s the format?

Each session runs about 75 minutes. You’ll hear short presentations, followed by a live Q&A with college staff, current distance students, and our support teams.

How do I join online, and what do I need?

Just go to events.massey.ac.nz/open-days-2025/distance-open-day at your chosen start time (11:00am or 7:00pm NZT, Thursday 4 September 2025). Use a device with internet and audio and a modern web browser. No downloads or special software required.

Can I ask questions during the event?

Yes — use the live chat and Q&A. Our presenters, advisers and current students will be on hand throughout to answer your questions and guide you to next steps.
