Te Herenga Waka / Victoria University of Wellington - design workshop for a new Ecosanctuary and National Heritage Reserve at Mātai Moana / Mt. Crawford

The landscape architecture programme of Te Herenga Waka / Victoria University of Wellington has been working in a participatory design project at Mātai Moana (Mt. Crawford) that proposes the transformation of the area into a new Ecosanctuary and National Heritage Reserve.

The idea of the project is to use the expertise of VUW/LAND 411/2024 students and staff to run a participatory project with the local community.

The aim of the project is to develop an inclusive design process where different voices with different interests and backgrounds are heard and considered.

On behalf of VUW/LAND 411/2024 staff and students,

We would like to invite the community to participate in the design workshops that we have organised for the 24th of April, 1st of May and 8th of May at Miramar & Maupuia community centre, from 5.00 to 6.30 pm.

The workshops will be thematic and will complement each other.

These will be related to environmental, cultural and social aspects of the future reserve.
