Event description
Tino Rangatiratanga/Self Determination for Māori suicide prevention and postvention

About this Event

Self Determination/Tino Rangatiratanga for Māori suicide prevention and postvention is about asserting the rights of Māori to develop their/our own solutions to healing and restoration of our communities after 250 years of colonisation. Tino Rangatiratanga at whānau, hapū, iwi and hāpori Māori levels offers opportunities to build creatively, heal creatively and envision hope. This seminar presents visions of Tino Rangatiratanga /self determination, what it means, what it looks like and what it leads to as collective, whakapapa-based action for suicide prevention and postvention. Strategies such as mara kai and reclaiming rongoā Māori, knowledge of Matariki and how the maramataka informs our emotional and wairua states, entrepreneurship, Māori art and other self-determining strategies impact all levels of our well-being. This webinar is based on stories of self-determination and hope-building for suicide prevention and post-vention.
