Overview:

Correct, accommodate or inhibit, and the 'three points of control' principle.

This workshop is for clinicians who are working in wheelchair seating prescription and want to deepen their understanding of managing complex postural presentations.

Supporting clients with asymmetric postures within wheelchair seating systems can be highly challenging. As clinicians, we strive for excellence in achieving the best outcomes for our clients. But when faced with postural asymmetry, how do we balance competing clinical goals such as pressure care, postural alignment, physiological function, physical function and comfort?

In this half-day workshop we’ll use a case study to explore advanced problem-solving techniques for managing postural asymmetries. You will gain practical knowledge on how to support individuals with complex postural needs, equipping you to make informed decisions and apply tailored wheelchair seating solutions.

Learning objectives:

Upon completion of this half-day workshop, you will:

  1. Apply principles for supporting clients with complex seating needs
  2. Evaluate and balance postural and functional goals
  3. Develop and demonstrate practical clinical skills with the Spex Seating product range.

Attendees will gain hands-on opportunities and coaching in using the Spex Seating range.

Notes:

This workshop is designed for assistive technology prescribers working with clients requiring configured rehab seating solutions.

If you are unsure whether this workshop aligns with your personal learning objectives, please contact the Medifab clinical education team.
