Event description
Cyclone in association with Microsoft is running a series of Minecraft workshops across New Zealand.

About this Event

This workshop is for teachers who want to unleash the creative potential in their students using the Design Thinking process.

Minecraft in class is not what you think! We use Minecraft as a tool to learn.

Such as…

  • Science: Discover the Physics of a Rollercoaster
  • Mathematics: Discover Fractions and Ratios using the blocks
  • Writing: Recreate the Bilbo Baggins Hobbit home from the description from the book.

In this free workshop, you will join all participants in a virtual Minecraft world and use Design Thinking. Learn how to set up Minecraft, how to use Minecraft to integrate the new areas of the Digital Technology curriculum into your classroom programmes and experience a Design Thinking project in a classroom collaborative setting.

The Minecraft: Education Edition software is now fully funded under the Microsoft agreement with the Ministry of Education, so there is no cost for you to use Minecraft in your school.

Who is this workshop for?

Teachers implementing the two new areas of the Technology curriculum: Computational Thinking and Designing and Developing Digital Outcomes.

Teachers wanting to integrate Computational Thinking and Design Thinking into their classroom programmes.

Anyone who is wanting to grab the attention of their learners in a creative and engaging way.

The workshop is suitable for beginners

These workshops will be run by our experienced PLD Facilitators
