About this Event
Cyclone in association with Microsoft is running a series of Minecraft workshops across New Zealand.
Using Minecraft and science as a vehicle to learn, we will integrate a variety of subjects such as Mathematics, Writing, and Reading to design collaborative and creative learning experiences Minecraft in class is not what you think! We use Minecraft as a tool to learn.
Such as…
- Mathematics: Discover Fractions and Ratios using the blocks
- Writing: Recreate the Bilbo Baggins Hobbit home from the description from the book.
- Science: Discover the Physics of a Rollercoaster
Minecraft is a game-based learning platform that promotes creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in an immersive digital environment.
Minecraft is about turning your gamers into learners.
In this free workshop, you will join all participants in a virtual Minecraft world. Learn how to set up Minecraft, how to use Minecraft to integrate the new areas of the Digital Technology curriculum into your classroom programmes and experience a Minecraft project in a classroom collaborative setting. Workshop will be tailored to participants needs.
The Minecraft: Education Edition software is now fully funded under the Microsoft agreement with the Ministry of Education, so there is no cost for you to use Minecraft in your school.
Who is this workshop for?
- Teachers implementing the two new areas of the Technology curriculum: Computational Thinking and Designing and Developing Digital Outcomes.
- Teachers wanting to integrate Computational Thinking and Design Thinking into their classroom programmes.
- Anyone who is wanting to grab the attention of their learners in a creative and engaging way.
- Teachers interested in experiencing Ngā Motu, the Minecraft World specifically built around students exploring Te Ao Māori
- This workshop is suitable for beginners.
