"Protecting our whakapapa – ensuring every sleep is a safe sleep."

Join us for Moe Haumaru, a free and interactive wānanga designed to equip our whānau and frontline kaimahi with knowledge, tools, and confidence around pēpi safety and SUDI (Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy) prevention.

This kaupapa is for anyone working with or caring for whānau with pēpi. Together we’ll learn how to support safe sleep through:

  • Engaging education sessions
  • Practical SUDI prevention strategies
  • Weaving kōrero and safe sleep messaging
  • Accessing resources and safe sleep spaces
  • Open space activities, games, and more

Who can attend this wānanga?

Anyone who works with whānau, supports pēpi in any way, or is a parent or caregiver of pēpi is welcome. This is a kaupapa for both professionals and whānau alike.

Is this event free?

Yes, the wānanga is completely free thanks to the support of Hāpai Te Hauora and Te Hiku Hauora.

Will food be provided?

Yes, kai will be provided throughout the day. Please let us know your dietary requirements during registration.

Is there a limit on how many people can attend?

Yes – registrations are capped at 40 to ensure an intimate and impactful experience.

Can I bring my baby?

Yes, pēpi are absolutely welcome in the space! Please just let us know when registering so we can prepare the space accordingly.

Do I need any prior knowledge of SUDI prevention?

No experience or prior training is required — this wānanga is designed to support all levels of understanding.

Will I receive anything for attending?

es, every participant will receive a Safe Sleep Champion Pack filled with helpful resources.
