About this event
All welcome at an introductory Predator Free working bee for the Morrinsville community, hosted by Predator Free Morrinsville and Go Eco (Waikato Environment Centre).
There are lots of ways that people can improve their community and getting rid of rats, stoats and possums is a great way of bringing people together to protect the environment and native species.
At the working bee you'll learn how you can protect the native species that already live in Morrinsville like the pekapeka (long-tailed bats), tui and kaka.
You'll learn about the predator control initiatives already happening locally and how you can be connected to help Morrinsville become predator free.
We've already identified a few sites proposed for predator control;
Holmwood Park, Morrinsville River Walk, and the Morrinsville Golf Course.
Our target is for 1 in 5 homes be trapping, so at this working bee you'll also be able to help get us started by building 100 tunnel boxes by lunchtime.
You'll be able to take a tunnel box and trap home for yourself, with others going to the community initiatives.
Please bring your own hammer.
Note: Event is subject to COVID-19 rulings. At level 2 people must bring a mask and we will be limited to 50 people because the event will be inside, so please rsvp by contacting the organisers.
