Take a day out in a lovely, tranquil Thorndon setting to tap into the power of the now and rediscover the inherent OK-ness of simply 'being.

About this event

Take a day out in a lovely, tranquil setting in Thorndon to tap into the power of the now and rediscover the inherent OK-ness of simply 'being'. In this retreat, most of which will be in silence for pariticipants, (though full instruction and tuition is given by Rachel) we use sitting/walking mindfulness practices and simple movements from qi gong to explore the experience of being present and to open to a still place of moving and being.

During the day you will be guided in these, and more:

  • Sitting and walking mindfulness meditation practice
  • How to build in mindfulness to your everyday life
  • Qi gong warm-ups to stretch and energise your body
  • Some qi gong sequences that you can practise at home

There is no religion, dogma or belief systems proposed in this retreat. Emphasis is given to your own experience, not theory. The retreat is suitable for beginners, and for those with experience in mindfulness meditation and qi gong.

$105 includes teas, coffee and snacks. Please bring your own lunch. Monring and afternonn tea, ocffee and snacks provided. Pjus teas and ocffee at lunch time.

Organiser the art of mindfulness

Organiser of Moving into Mindfulness, a 1-day Wgtn urban mindfulness/qi gong retreat

Rachel Tobin is the director of the art of mindfulness. She teaches introduction-to-mindfulness courses, offers mindfulness training in organisations, and teaches one-day and residential mindfulness and movement retreats at various centres round NZ. She offers a mindfulness-based approach for coaching, mentioring and supervision on a 1:1 basis, and facilitates her 7-week programme for children, Now in the Moment. Rachel is also a poet - her first collection, Say it Naked, was published by Makaro Press at the end of last year.
