Event description

Description

MTA is proud to bring The Automotive Technician (TaT) to New Zealand for an eight stop tour in July. Based in Australia, TAT are specialist diagnostic technicians who can teach you make more money from your business. Last time they were here in 2016, over 250 members attended with some great outcomes.

Kicking off the evening, business coach and director of TaT, Geoff Mutton, will run a course on customer service and sales.

Session 1: Customer service and sales

Customer service and sales are vital to business success. Great service dictates the sales customers authorise, what they tell their friends, and whether they return. Most people believe they provide great customer service, but it’s not always the case.

In this attendees use a customer service self-assessment checklist to evaluate their business.

Learn how to:

  • Correctly take a booking and talk to price shoppers
  • Wow the customer and put them at ease when they drop their vehicle off
  • Upsell additional items
  • Validate the customer’s perception of value for money

This course is relevant to everyone who works in a workshop – don’t assume your staff are great at customer service. Bring them along for a refresher.

After a quick break Jeff Smit, technical editor of the TaT magazine, will begin his presentation on profitable diagnostics.

Session 2: Profitable Diagnostics

How does a technician start diagnosing a problematic vehicle they have never worked on before? How do they ensure they get paid for the job?

That’s where the mechanics of diagnostics comes in. During this session Jeff will run through his proven diagnostic pathway which will simplify the complex vehicle issues we are all asked to diagnose.

Learn how to:

  • Gather sufficient information from a customer
  • Gain financial commitment from a customer
  • Keep the customer informed with progress
  • Use technology to diagnose problems

This course is relevant to technicians and front office staff who often deal with the customers.
