Description

Finding Your Voice: Music Therapy New Zealand Symposium 2017

The theme of this year's symposium encompasses many different areas of music therapy work - as music therapists, we help others to find their voices, both literally and figuratively. We seek and endeavour to find our own voices, both as practitioners and as advocates for the profession and the people we work with.

We are thrilled that our keynote speaker for this year will be New York based vocal psychotherapist Dr. Diane Austin. Diane will present on her work, and will also run an experiential workshop with space for both active participants and observers, on the Saturday.

A more detailed programme will be released in early June. The Saturday programme will run from 9am - 5pm, and the Sunday from 9am - 4pm.

Your registration fee also includes morning and afternoon teas and lunch.

Early bird prices are avaialible until 11.30pm, 1 July.

Dr Diane Austin DA, ACMT, LCAT is the Director of the Music Psychotherapy Centre in New York City where she offers a two-year post-graduate certificate program in Vocal Psychotherapy. Dr Austin has maintained a private practice in music psychotherapy for over 25 years, and teaches in the graduate music therapy department at New York University. She has lectured and taught internationally on the use of the voice in in-depth music psychotherapy and her work has been published in numerous journals and books.

While in New Zealand, Diane Austin will also be presenting at Victoria University of Wellington and at an weekend long Auckland workshop. Her trip to New Zealand has been made possible through a Lindgren Grant from Music Therapy New Zealand, and is organised by Maria Monet-Facoory, RMTh.
