Event description

Description

Her Majesty, the Queen Mother, Marie de' Medici, is hosting a ball to celebrate the Christmas season and the eviction of the Black Guard from the streets of Paris! In the spirit of Christmas charity, Marie is collecting for Paris's impoverished citizens, victims of the Black Guard's greed, and has invited the infamous 'Charon' and his(?) court. (However, she asks that they make at least a token attempt to scrub up and to wear acceptable clothes.)

This event is a purely roleplaying event. All NPCs will be there for roleplaying and character relationship development, and the GMs will not be introducing elements to further the main stories. You will not ‘fall behind’ if you do not attend.

The game will be held on Saturday 16th June, at Ferndale House (830 New North Road, driveway on corner of New North Road and Alexis Rd). Dance lessons are from 4pm to 6pm, and then the game itself will start at 7pm.

DANCING

We are excited to announce that Katherine Davies, a historical dance expert from the SCA, will be our dance teacher at this event. From 4pm to 6pm, there will be out-of-character dancing lessons. There is no requirement to attend these, these are just for fun for those who are interested! During the main event itself, Katherine will be calling dances.

COLLECTING FOR AUCKLAND CITY MISSION

The game will take place in Auckland's real life winter, when many Aucklanders are struggling with making ends meet. In addition to the ticket cost, we ask that all participants bring food donations for the Auckland City Mission, or in lieu of that, a cash donation. Larpers are generous people with big hearts, let's show our love for the people who are having a hard time this winter. We'll have a collection station set up.

For an idea of what the mission is after, see this list: https://www.aucklandcitymission.org.nz/fundraising/food-parcels/

CHARACTERS
If you’re not sure your PC has a reason for attending, and you can’t think of one, email us and we’ll get you in. IC ‘dates’ are absolutely not a requirement for attending - after all, balls are a wonderful place to meet people, if you are so inclined, or you can come for the food and merriment.

Crew are welcome at the event! Some of you will have existing NPCs you can play. If you don’t and you’d still like to come to the ball, you can get one of afew pre-written roleplaying characters we're writing or you can make up an NPC to play for the event. We already started a thread in the crew Facebook group to dicuss it, jump in. Please make sure you let us know what NPC you're intending to bring, we'll need to make sure it's suitable for the event.

REFUND POLICY

If you are ill, please do not bring your germs to the party! We will refund your fee as long as you let us know you are sick and will not be attending.

If you withdraw from the game after June 13th (three days before the event) for other reasons, we will process your refund request after we have run the event and seen what our finances come out at. We will refund a portion of your fees at our discretion.

Transferal: Player tickets are transferable conditional on Game Master approval. Crew tickets are transferable but the Game Masters must be informed so we have an accurate record of who is attending.

Participation Refusal: If the Musketeers GM team decides to refuse you participation (see below), your ticket costs will be refunded in full.
