Event description

France has fallen.

Lord Cromwell, his coterie of Parliamentarian vampires and his master, Merlin, are defeated. But on the continent, the pretender Queen Anne has struck hard and fast. With the aid of Fleet Admiral Hernando Jacinto, she has blockaded the channel, preventing travel between England and France, and cutting off France's supplies. From the skies, dread airships rain fire on the countryside, burning fields and villages without mercy.

Paris still holds against Queen Anne's onslaught. Queen Mother Marie de Medici is leading the defence, bolstered by de Medici forces, and the musketeer regiment that remained behind in Paris. But without supplies and reinforcements, who knows how long they will be able to fight?

The game begins on the in character date of 29th April, 1626, six months after the horrors of All Hallow's Eve, the so-called "Night of the Long Teeth" when pretender Anne showed her true face.

This is it. The final stand against the pretender Anne and her allies. She must be defeated for good, else France will fall under the yoke of evil.

This is the final game of the Musketeers! campaign. Events on the weekend will wrap up late on Saturday night. On Sunday morning, there will be no roleplaying - we will clean up the camp and relocate to Ferndale House for the campaign epilogue, from 1pm to approximately 4pm. Afterwards, we'll stay on site for the campaign afterlarp.

Player spaces are restricted to returning players, or crew switching to player. If you are a returning player with a returning character, you will have a ticket held for you for the period of one month. You have from November 2nd 7pm to December 1st 11:59pm (as per Eventbrite's clock) to purchase the ticket available for you. We have chosen this system in the hope that everyone has a pay cycle that falls somewhere in that month. After December 1st, player ticket sales will close.

If there are issues with this, please contact the GM team (musketeer.larp@gmail.com) in the first instance.

Once you purchase your player ticket, you will receive a confirmation email. Please read this confirmation email. There is an important link to a questionnaire about your characters powers, and how your character plans to get back to Paris.

We love crew! The earlier we sign up, the more we can write for your recurring NPCs, or we might be able to cast you as someone new and exciting. There's also an early bird discount for crew that expires at midnight February 10th.

Illness: If you are unable to attend due to illness, your game fee will be put forward to a future event.

Other Reasons: If you withdraw from the game after February 15th (one month before the game), we will process your refund request after we have run the event and seen what our finances come out at. We will refund a portion of your fees at our discretion.

Transferal: Player tickets are transferable conditional on Game Master approval. Crew tickets are transferable but the Game Masters must be informed so we have an accurate record of who is attending.

Participation Refusal: If the Musketeers GM team decides to refuse you participation (see below), your ticket costs will be refunded in full.

Musketeers is a hobby event run by a Game Master team that is volunteering their time. We strive to be inclusive, however, we want to stress that no one has an automatic right to attend our events. The Musketeers GM team reserves the right to refuse your participation in this event for any reason including but not limited to:

  • Behaviour at other events (including online) that contravenes the nzLARPS Code of Conduct, and/or causes other Musketeers participants unease, discomfort or alarm.

  • Behaviour at other events (including online) that lead the GM team to believe that participant will not behave in line with Musketeers community and artistic values, including negative game play style, bullying or trolling, unsafe combat or role playing practices, or any other behaviour we deem detrimental to the project.

  • Lack of communication with the GM team

  • If the GM team and participant cannot reach a compromise on creative differences

  • Annoying the GM team so much that we don't want to spend any more time on you (we're volunteers, after all)

  • Bringing the game or larp community into disrepute
