New Zealand Women in HealthTech, “Breaking through Bias”

Please join us and be part of our first event, which includes a collaborative group representing the HealthTech sector in NZ between:

• New Zealand Health IT (NZHIT)

• Consortium for Medical Device Technologies (CMDT)

Our mission is to empower women and diversity to flourish at all levels of the HealthTech industry by making cultural change within organisational opportunities and leadership.

We are honoured to welcome our first inspiring guest speakers:

Dr. Catherine Mohr

Dr. Catherine Mohr is a New Zealand expat and the Vice President of Medical Research at Intuitive Surgical, a high technology Silicon Valley based company that makes the da Vinci surgical robot. In this role she is responsible for strategic planning of new developments, identifying new technologies for incorporation into the robotic platform, and conducting surgical labs to evaluate prototype devices and technologies. She is also a Consulting Assistant Professor in the department of Surgery at Stanford School of Medicine and on the medicine and robotics faculty of Singularity University.

Dr. Mohr received her BS and MS in mechanical engineering from MIT, and her MD from Stanford University School of Medicine. She has been involved with numerous startup companies in the areas of alternative energy transportations, computer aided design software, and medical devices.

Dr Mohr currently serves as a scientific advisor for several startup companies. She is a frequent speaker on the topics of surgical robotics, innovation, and the importance of science. She is also the author of numerous scientific publications, and the recipient of multiple awards including “World Class New Zealander” for raising the profile of her home country internationally.

Despite her busy schedule, Catherine still continues to contribute to the growth of NZ’s medtech sector. She consults to the NZ government, is a mentor to several start-ups and is a member of the MedTech Centre of Research Excellence Advisory Board.

Bev Cassidy-Mackenzie

Bev Cassidy-Mackenzie is a Diversity specialist and Director of Consulting at Deloitte’s. I am a proud champion of diversity and inclusion in New Zealand. After years in the public sector and equally as many working with large and medium sized businesses in the private sector, I have been able to bring all of my skills and experience together to help organisations to empower their people to bring their whole selves to work and therefore improve New Zealand's economic outcomes.
