No change? It's all change! A perspective from the UK on tomorrow's energy...
Wed 5 April 2017, 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM NZST
Join us as we welcome back John Scott to present a crisp round up of developments in the British energy sector, together with a closer look at some of the evidence coming from the "Future Power System Architecture" (FPSA) project and the R&D needs it is highlighting.
John is a member of the steering group for the FPSA project being led by The Institution of Engineering & Technology and the UK government’s Energy Systems Catapult, which involves a wide span of stakeholders, including new Grid Edge parties. This project, now in its second phase, has opted for an agile working approach rather than traditional sequential development: is this a parallel for the changes needed in the sector itself?
Having rounded up the evidence for change, John Scott will offer his perspective on the responses to date of the major stakeholders, and the opportunities, or is it risks, they have ahead. What might New Zealand find helpful from observing the British experience and could this smooth the pathway for the energy transition ahead?
