Numa Mackenzie Print Workshop
Event Information
About this Event
Join us for an evening workshop at The Mercury Plaza Refreshment Room with interdisciplinary artist, Numangatini ‘Numa' Mackenzie.
The workshop will explore Numa's practice in graf, tatau and mixed media, showcasing his unique Pacifica printmaking techniques. Guests will have the opportunity to learn from Numa and create their very own printed tee-shirt to take home at the end of the evening.
Only 10 spaces are available.
One tee-shirt per guest will be provided, however you're welcome to bring along additional items/garments you would like to print on. This could be an old piece of clothing or a long lost shirt hiding in the back of your closet. We'll repurpose it with a unique Pacific inspired print.
The perfect opportunity to make some special Xmas gifts!
Check out Numa's instagram on @numanaturesgentleman for more of his work.
Book your tickets via Eventbrite or contact us on hello@themercuryplaza.co.nz for group bookings (payments in full to secure your place).
More about the artist:
Numa's practice centres on the exploration of urban space and the processes of building connections to his Pacific heritage and people.
His research engages with literature on Oceanic art, museum collections as well as collaborations with living practitioners of art forms ranging from tatau, painting, spoken word, navigation and street art including his own voyaging experiences.
Numa often responds to these experiences and sites of investigation through large public graf installations, performance and printmaking. He is actively involved in cultural heritage projects, performative acti.VA.tions, research and community development in New Zealand, where he is now based, and the Cook Islands.
