FREE PUBLIC ENTRY, ALL WELCOME... TICKETS ONLY APPLY TO COMPETITORS

The New Zealand Specialty Coffee Association (NZSCA) holds the license to run the national leg of the World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship.

The Championship is held in strict accordance with the WCE's Rules and Regulations. The World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship will be taking place in Berlin, Germany 6-8 June 2019

We are excited to bring the Coffee in Good Spirits Championship to NZ! Limited places are available to compete.

The World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship promotes innovative beverage recipes that showcase coffee and spirits in a competition format.

This competition highlights the barista/barkeeper’s mixology skills in a setting where coffee and alcohol go perfectly together. From the traditional Irish Coffee (with whiskey and coffee) to unique cocktail combinations.

During the preliminary round, competitors produce four drinks – two identical hot/warm coffee and alcohol-based designer drinks, and two identical cold coffee and alcohol-based designer drinks. The six competitors with the highest preliminary round scores will compete in the final round. The final round requires competitors to produce two Irish Coffees and two coffee-and-alcohol-based designer drinks. The highest scoring final round competitor will be named the World Coffee in Good Spirits Champion.

In its first year in NZ, we will run a pared-down event with the preliminary round only, with the highest scoring competitor taking the crown and a chance to compete in Berlin Germany 6-8th June at the World Event.

Competitors must use the provided alcohol within their drinks and the provided coffee. Havana will provide a Cuban espresso & a single origin if the competitor prefers filter in one of their drinks. 500g of each will be sent out to the competitors 10 days prior to the event and the coffee will be listed openly prior. Failure to use either sponsored coffee or alcohol will result in disqualification.
