Event description

Description

Are you or your family / friends/ colleagues inspired by travelling, outdoors and adventure? Have a great night out in Wanaka!

Watch the BEST OF THE BEST awarded films from the recent NZ Mountain Film Festival including the high-octane sports such as skiing, base-jumping, climbing, and mountain biking and important environmental and mountain culture films to educate and entertain. You’ll also help our teens get to Base Camp in Nepal in April 2019. Films include:

Where the Wild Things Play – Girl power movie – Base jumping from high desert cliffs, performing tricks on slacklines, climbing granite routes, shredding single-track, skiing backcountry lines and generally just leaving the fellas behind.

RJ Ripper – super-aligned with us our teens going to Base Camp in Nepal. The chaotic streets of Kathmandu may not seem like a typical breeding ground for world-class mountain bikers, but then again nothing is typical about Rajesh Magar.

Liv along the Way – Liv Sansoz is a teen who climbed Mt Blanc as a teenager. In 2017 Liv set out to climb all 82 x 4000m peaks in the European Alps in a single year. As she’s learned several times throughout her life, things don’t always go as planned.

Foodless Odyssey - A long-time dream of some young blokes to bike through hundreds of kilometres of wilderness on a remote Island, living entirely off the land. The rules were simple: carry all the survival tools needed to bike, fish, hunt and camp…. But absolutely no food.

The Frozen Road - Ben London drops everything to fat-bike the world, completely alone. He encounters the threat of wolves, well below-freezing temperatures, and solitude not to mention other terror and frustration whilst riding through some of our world’s last great wildernesses.

2.5 Million - Skier Aaron Rice sets out to ski 2.5 million human-powered vertical feet in the backcountry and set a new world record. To be successful, Aaron will have to ski over 330 days in the calendar year and chase snow around the world.

Thanks so much for being a part of our fundraiser. FYI Ticket price is $20 which will go towards cost of film, venue and profits for fundraising. Yeah our teens walking to Base Camp, doing community work and sightseeting too. The other small part of the price was an Eventbrite fee.
