NZ's contribution to the Global Management and Governance of the Internet
Fri 3 March 2017, 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM NZDT
A seminar organised by the United Nations Association of New Zealand, with the support of the NZ National Commission for UNESCO.
The Internet is ubiquitous and is an essential component of modern social and economic life. Despite this, Global Internet management and governance has and is proceeding largely ‘under the radar’ from the point of view of the general public.
Over the past 20 or so years Internet governance has been the subject of intensive international and political debate and activity amongst a small group of experts drawn from the technical community, business and civil society. It has involved considerable tensions amongst governments and between governments and the private sector, and even featured in the recent Presidential elections in the US.
Over this time a small group of New Zealanders have been active and highly influential in the international debates.
The seminar will consist of presentations by a panel of speakers drawn from this group. Click here for the programme and speakers details.
