Register for our first-ever online Frontline Emergency Training Workshop!

Registration is limited so be sure to get your ticket and check your email for your order confirmation. The training will be held on Zoom, and you will be sent the link and further details closer to the time.

We will be offering online attendees the opportunity to visit our centre for morning or afternoon tea once we are back in Level 1.

YOU WILL LEARN...

Step-by-step processes for evaluating the situation, capture, handling, transport and first aid for sick, injured or abandoned/orphaned wild birds, including:

  • how to cope with orphaned, injured, poisoned, or sick birds you encounter
  • how to decide when to rescue a bird
  • skills and tips for rapid evaluation of situations in the field
  • the humane approach to capture, housing and transport
  • skills and tips for the safe handling of any bird species
  • essential first aid instructions to save the life of a bird
  • what are survivable injuries and when euthanasia is the best treatment
  • a review of the ‘chain of evidence’ requirements in a suspected malicious incident
  • how to ensure your and others' safety, and recognise the stressors that impact front-line responders
  • view first-hand a professional wildlife rehabilitation facility in operation (once we are back in Level 1)

Dr Lynn Miller, who will share her many years of experience in teaching wildlife responders worldwide. She developed and taught the course in MA, USA, that was required for all front-line officers.
