About this event

Irreverent, incorrigible, and just ever so outraged, James Nokise lets loose @poppus.comedy for a weekend of laughs.

Politicians, policies, preachers, and protests are all in the line of fire as Nokise brings his fast paced, semi-chaotic, always cathartic, blend of humour and hot takes back to the capital for a hilarious hour of big laughs and the occasional frustrated scream.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of club is this?

It's a house, where standup comedy is provided and to get a sense of this, check out this article https://www.rnz.co.nz/national/programmes/culture-101/audio/2018952633/poppys-south-auckland-family-garage-hottest-new-comedy-club

How do I enter the club?

Facing the house, on the left-hand side (LHF) is a driveway. Walk down the drive, and on the right-hand side, you'll see some open gates. Enter through the gates and go to the first door under the deck. OR, if the garage door is open (when facing the house), come on through.

Is there parking available?

Street parking only is available. You cannot park directly outside the premises, but you can do so across the road.

Is alcohol sold at the premises?

Poppys does not sell alcohol as it does not have a license to do so.

As alcohol isn’t sold at the premises, then can I bring some?

You can bring alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks to be consumed before or after the show; however, these cannot be consumed in the club itself where the gig is held. You can enjoy them under the deck, or upstairs in the lounge, kitchen, or deck area.

Can you eat and drink in the club where comedy is performed?

No. You are more than welcome to eat and drink before and after the show, however we ask that this is not done in cub.

Can you consume alcohol while watching the show?
