About this event

  • 1 day 4 hours

We work in a rapidly evolving world exerting pressure on us as professionals. It can feel like we must be all things to all people, while mindful of our own limits and what is within our capacity to provide.

What role does restorative supervision play in supporting this balance?

You may be wondering:

· What is our scope as supervisors when we think about supervisee wellbeing and resilience?

· Does the boundary between therapy and supervision depend on your profession or role?

· How do we maintain our own resilience as supervisors?

· Why should organisations provide space for this, in addition to the usual case load and team dilemmas brought to supervision?

Join Fiona Howard and Erica Hodgson in an interactive workshop as we explore the restorative function of supervision – how to address supervisees' emotional experiences of their workplace, and their personal functioning in that context (Milne and Reiser, 2020).

With content designed in collaboration with Dr Allyson Davys, we will explore key aspects of wellbeing and resilience at work and how these may be enhanced by the supervisory process:

· An in-depth look at the role of core processes such as reflection in supervision

· The roles and qualities of both supervisor and supervisee

· Building resilient relationships – mapping your resource system

· Fostering wellbeing goals and self-care plans

· Utilising strengths-based practice to combat imposter syndrome

· Exploring the contribution of personal and professional values to bolster wellbeing practices

· The place of containment and emotional processing within supervision

· Managing our own resilience and wellbeing as we extend care to others

Plenty of opportunity will be given to discuss concepts, learning from the group’s shared experience.

What you will take away:

· Knowledge of best-practice regarding wellbeing at work and how supervision can help

· Useful tools and resources which can be implemented in your very next session

· Better understanding of your own role as supervisor and what fits within your scope of practice

· A chance to review your own wellbeing strategies

· A new network of other professional supervisors to connect with

Format of the days:

The course will run for 2 half days 9am - 1pm over zoom.

Who this course is for:

We view professional supervision as a process of reflection on a supervisee’s role, to enhance competence and wellbeing at work - a collaborative process focussed on the supervisee’s agenda. We welcome attendees across the wide range of professions now using this type of supervision to build staff capability and wellbeing. You may know it by other names, but it does not include managerial oversight of employees.

Prerequisite:

This course is suitable for experienced professional supervisors who have attended an introductory supervision training and wish to extend their skills in the restorative aspect. A particular interest in well-being at work is beneficial, but there is no requirement for prior knowledge in this area.

Frequently asked questions

What are the timings for the training?

We offer online training over 2 half days as we know it can be more tiring. It will run 9am - 1pm over both days. A zoom link will be sent closer to the time to join.

Is GST included in the ticket price?

Yes it is GST inclusive and you will receive a tax receipt for your records.

What does the attendance fee include?

Course materials will be couriered out once payment is received and a certificate provided post-course to demonstrate professional development hours.

Can you invoice my organisation direct?

We prefer all bookings to come via Eventbrite but are happy to talk further if you really cannot access the course this way - we don't want you to miss out!

What happens if I can't attend or want a refund?

Our standard approach is to not offer a refund within 20 working days of the course. Any refund is less the processing fees for Eventbrite (this is beyond our control). Please contact us if you aren't able to attend or want to defer to a later date as we will try to be flexible if possible.
