About this event

It’s been a little tough, hasn’t it? But as the threat of Omicron fades, we thought we’d make a big deal of our latest Open Home with Dulux, in a special double-header in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.

We’ve loved opening houses all across the country over the past year, so this issue, we’re opening the Westmere home and studio of architect Pete Bossley and artist Miriam van Wezel (see more on page 62), along with our cover star from Here 08, an “urban bach” in the nearby suburb of Sandringham, designed by Pac Studio.

They’re both delightful, but for different reasons – they show how varied living in our biggest city can be... And they both have wonderful colour palettes.

Bossley and van Wezel’s house is the result of two decades of “loving iterations” – a 1940s bungalow that has morphed into a contemporary home filled with art and collections.

The house of director Ryan Heron, meanwhile, is a simple dwelling on a rear section that shows we have nothing to fear from density. Compact and clever, it’s a wonderful example of great planning. We can’t wait.

Your ticket will give you access to both houses – choose a starting time and house at checkout.

For privacy reasons, we release the addresses the day before – we'll be in touch Friday 18 May with address details.
