About our Panelists:

Justice Anne Hinton QC, High Court Justice

Anne Hinton QC graduated with an LLB (Hons) from Auckland University in 1975. She was admitted in February 1977 and became a staff solicitor with Grierson Jackson & Partners in Auckland.

She joined the partnership of Hesketh Henry in 1982, working in civil litigation. In 1989 she left to join the partnership of Simpson Grierson in their Auckland office and headed the civil litigation and matrimonial property team of five lawyers.

Justice Hinton became a barrister in 1997 and was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2002.

Kate Davenport QC, President of the New Zealand Bar Association

Kate Davenport QC graduated from Auckland University with an LLB (Hons) and later an M-Jur (Dist) and was admitted to the bar in 1983, working for several Auckland firms before travelling to London. Kate joined the independent bar on her return to Auckland in 1990. She was appointed as a Queen’s counsel in 2013

Kate practices primarily in civil and commercial litigation and is a member of Bankside Chambers. She has a special interest in professional regulation and is a former Vice President of the New Zealand Law Society and the New Zealand Bar Association. Kate is a co-author of LexisNexis Law of Trusts.

Jean Yang, Legal Tech Counsel | McCarthyFinch

Jean leads the legal side of development at McCarthy Finch, the legal AI joint venture between MinterEllisonRuddWatts and Goat Ventures. Originally a solicitor, she now works on the intersection of law, technology, and innovation.
