Overview

These classes are suitable for beginners and those with previous experience.

These classes will explore the material launguage of acrylic paint. Emphasis will be on your discovery of mark-making through painterly experimatation and play. Each lesson has a diffrent theme. Classes are suitable for both beginners and those with previous experience.

This class is offered on a Tuesday night (6pm - 8pm) for eight weeks.

Class will cover the materials and techiques used in acrylic painting.

Emphasis will be as much on technique as it will be on painterly experimentation and play. Previous students of this class are welome to continue attending the class on an ongoing basis to develop their individual projects and work on their technique, with individual guidance from the teacher and to connect with other artists regulary.

Please note: students must be over 16 years of age to attend these classes.

The teacher for this class is James Varga.

Materials you will need to bring to the first class are:

• 4 x A3 or A2 sheets of drawing paper (any quality)

• 1 sheet of A3 or A2 watercolour paper (this can also be purchased per sheet in class – cash only $3.50/A2 sheet)

• willow charcoal

• drawing pencil (2B or softer)

• acrylic paint in the following colours: burnt sienna, ultramarine blue, titanium white

• A selection of brushes you already have, or, if you are purchasing some, one mid-size flat, one larger flat, and one mid-size round are suggested.

• 4 x bulldog clips

Please note, you may be issued a full (except for Eventbrite fees) automatic refund up to 7 days before your event starts by requesting a refund through Eventbrite. Refund requests after this date can be made by contacting the anca@op.ac.nz email address. These will be accepted on a case-by-case basis when exceptional circumstances are present. No refund requests will be accepted after the start date of the class.

Term One: 9th February - 3rd April (No classes on Otago Anniversary Day)

Term Two: 4th May - 26th June (No classes on Kings Birthday)

Term Three: 20th July - 10th September

Term Four: 14th September – 6th November (No classes on Labour Day)
