Event description
This 'Make & Give' workshop with The Re-Creators gives you the materials to get creative with paper clay to brighten up boring plant pots!

About this Event

Invite your children to join us at Kelmarna Gardens for this crafty upcycling workshop with The Re-Creators to enliven old plant pots with their own personal flare, using repurposed materials to create plant pot sculptures that will bring joy and colour to your herb garden or make for a thoughtful and conscientious gift this holiday season.

This kids' workshop includes the materials and instruction to mix and mould 'paper clay', a unique Re-Creator recipe for sculpting with repurposed materials! The Re-Creators use reclaimed and/or discarded materials to guide your tamariki in experimenting with their inner artist without breaking the bank or the planet.

They will learn how to mix paper clay and then get hands on creating a masterpiece of their own, by applying the clay to boring old planter pots, and then planting up a seedling to take home.

Let them look forward to a lovely morning in the garden discovering the joy of making something useful and truly personal, all while helping our planet and pocket by reusing materials that already exist.

--

The Re-Creators are on a mission to teach New Zealand how to upcycle, to reduce and reuse our resources, to share skills in reimagining 'waste' as creative opportunities! They swear that it's not only creative and sustainable, but also easy and fun too! They invite you to join them in skills-based workshops that empower our communities to make and give unique and beautiful gifts by upcycling rather than buying new.

This workshop is proudly supported by the Waitematā Local Board, Auckland Council.

Proceeds from this event support the Kelmarna Gardens Organic Community Farm, Workshops, and Youth Education Programme.
