Dear MIEA members and invited friends,

We are thrilled to invite you to this exclusive international philanthropy event, hosted by Dentons in collaboration with The Gift Trust, and the Migrant Investor and Entrepreneur Association (MIEA).

We will delve into some of the strategies for maximising philanthropic giving across borders. Together with esteemed speakers and experts, we will explore case studies and practical insights to navigate the complexities and optimise the impact of your philanthropic endeavours, both locally and globally.

Matthew Monahan is a visionary philanthropist, Silicon Valley entrepreneur, and migrant to New Zealand. Matthew will share his inspiring journey of relocating substantial funds from the USA to Aotearoa to champion local environmental initiatives, demonstrating the transformative power of cross-border philanthropy.

Sally Paterson is the Chief Executive of Live Ocean Foundation, a New Zealand marine conservation charity that scales up science, innovation and outreach for a healthy ocean. Live Ocean is registered in the USA as a 501(c)3 and has aligned purposes. She will offer a charity perspective on cross border giving and some of its issues and opportunities.

Cheryl Spain, Executive Director at The Gift Trust, will impart invaluable knowledge on structuring philanthropic giving and managing philanthropic funds effectively, whether within New Zealand or across borders. The Gift Trust specialises in facilitating the seamless movement of international philanthropic funds.

Jessie Rose, Senior Associate in Dentons’ Private Wealth team will offer guidance on navigating some of the legal and strategic aspects of international philanthropy, helping to ensure your contributions make a meaningful and lasting difference.

Nick Arathimos, Advisory Board Member of MIEA, will MC the event and facilitate a panel discussion between our speakers, allowing you to make the most out of their collective expertise and experience.

Join us for an enlightening evening of insights, networking, and actionable strategies to elevate your philanthropic impact across borders.

Kindly RSVP by Wednesday 5th June to secure your place at this exclusive event.

We look forward to welcoming you to an inspiring conversation on maximising philanthropy's power to drive positive change worldwide.

Warm regards,

The Gift Trust, Dentons and MIEA team
