Event description

Description

The Ponto System with Andrea Pittman

This 1-hour seminar will take place at The Hearing House, Auckland on Tuesday 2 July 2019. Focusing on the Ponto Bone Anchored Hearing System, ground-breaking research will be presented, revealing how the choice of system and processor can affect the outcomes for recipients. Surgeons, hearing professionals, recipients and their families are all welcome to attend.

Andrea Pittman is Associate Professor in the Department of Speech and Hearing Science in the College of Health Solutions. In the Paediatric Amplification Laboratory, the amplification needs of both children and adults with hearing loss are examined through traditional and novel paradigms. Two lines of research are currently underway. Firstly, the team is interested to know if hearing loss delays or halts the development of word learning in children compared to their normally hearing peers. Secondly, the group is studying the relationship between learning and signal quality in a variety of clinical populations and hearing devices (hearing aids and bone anchored devices).
