This 3.5 day course for professionals in the field of infant neurology gives a basic introduction to Prechtl's General Movements Assessment.

About this event

Prechtl's Method has shown its merits for the postnatal evaluation of the integrity of the nervous system. Prechtl's General Movements (GMs) predict how the young central nervous system is developing. They can identify neurological issues predictive of cerebral palsy and other developmental disabilities.

This 3.5 day course fulfils the standards specified by the GM-Trust.

Through lectures, demonstrations & exercises, attendees will learn:

  • The ontogeny of spontaneous motor activity;
  • Normal and abnormal General Movements (GMs) from birth to 20 weeks post - term;
  • Practical instructions for recording and assessing GMs;
  • GMs and follow-up: individual developmental trajectories and their predictive power for later neurological impairments.

This is an in-person event.

Cost includes morning and afternoon tea, and lunch (morning tea only on the Thursday). Please inform us of any dietary requirements upon registration.
