Event description

Description

These classes are suitable for beginners through to experienced artists who want to focus on the particular techniques of etching or screen printing.

The class teaches a process-based approach to making prints, covering the technical aspects of print, looking at how the processes and functions inform the strategy of making art; at how the medium or technique exists as the means to realise an idea.

We deal with printed images every day. Anything that is made in a reproducible format is a print; photocopies, posters, photographs, band t-shirts etc. Fine art print has been traditionally defined through the technical processes of relief, intaglio, lithography and screen printing. The line between print art and other printed forms has been blurred as artists re-examine the traits that define print practice, with the proliferation of digital processes playing a major part.

Introduction to Printmaking classes are taught by Kirsty Lewry.

One weekly class per term (8x week duration): Tuesdays, 6.00-8.00pm.
