We invite you to a concert that’s equal parts grandeur and quirky charm, performed by the Tauranga Civic Choir, directed by Chalium Poppy, and accompanied by organist Douglas Mews.

Puccini’s Messa di Gloria delivers soaring melodies and rich harmonies—essentially opera in sacred form, with passion and flair. Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, on the other hand, takes a delightfully eccentric turn, setting the whimsical poetry of Christopher Smart to a colourful and unexpected choral tapestry. One moment, you’re swept up in reverent intensity; the next, you’re delighting in musical depictions of cats, mice, and joyful exuberance.
