Description

Purpose Projects Clothing Swap
(Co-hosted by My Thursday Thrift)

My Thursday Thrift has teamed up with Lauryn from Purpose Projects!
As the weather starts to change, so does our wardrobe! This event is an opportunity for you to sort through your clothes, and bring them along for a night of swapping, nibbles, drinks, live music and even some local business selling their items!
So how will it work?
With seasonal changes comes the desire to buy a whole lot of new items. This event encourages you to shop second hand, and think more deeply about slowing down your purchasing. We encourage you and your friends to bring 5-10, quality items that just don't get much love any more and swap them.

Your $10 ticket includes drinks and nibbles and which can be purchased from eventbrite and all money will go towards grass root projects in Uganda. Read more about Lauryn's story and involvement with Purpose Project below!
_____________________________________

I'm Lauryn, and I'm a volunteer with Purpose Projects- an NGO which works to bring education and empowerment to communities in Uganda whilst changing the way students volunteer overseas. I spent a month volunteering with Purpose Projects in January of this year, where we worked in various community development projects, including the construction of a primary school in the village of Kkoba.

I'm returning to volunteer with Purpose Projects in January of 2020, where we will be continuing to build on community development projects within Kkoba- including constructing a secondary school within the village and developing a farm with the aim of bringing about long-lasting change and self-sufficiency for the people of Kkoba.

The whole ethos of Purpose Projects is the transparency of funds raised- the donation raised by each volunteer goes directly to the projects we undertake whilst volunteering, providing a direct link between the community here in New Zealand and the community in Uganda. All funds raised from this event will go directly towards the community of Kkoba, and the next stage of community development projects we will be working on in January 2020!

Hope to see you all there!
