Pūtahi Manawa – Healthy Hearts of Aotearoa New Zealand Centre of Research Excellence.
The mission of Pūtahi Manawa | Healthy Hearts for Aotearoa New Zealand (HHANZ) Centre of Research Excellence (CoRE) is to improve equity in heart health for Māori and Pacific Peoples through research excellence and precision medicine.
We wish to work in partnership with communities and researchers to create a vibrant world-class environment and network for heart research in Aotearoa. It is our aim that HHANZ works directly with and for communities across Aotearoa.
For this mahi to happen, we need you- the future of Aotearoa New Zealand.
We currently have two summer studentship programmes for Māori (Kura Raumati) and Pacific students (Fatu Malosi).
The Kura Raumati programme aims to provide opportunities for tertiary level students to participate in Māori heart health research.Our interns will have an interest in developing skills, knowledge and networks, and contribute to the advancement of heart health equity for Māori, in Aotearoa New Zealand.The internship will involve participation in a ten-week programme, with a week long wānanga followed by an heart health project that will be supervised by heart health researchers and end with a celebration.
Fatu Malosi is the Pasifika summer research programmes facilitated and funded by Pūtahi Manawa – Healthy Hearts of Aotearoa New Zealand Centre of Research Excellence.
The programme aims to provide opportunities for tertiary level students to participate in Pasifika heart health research.Our interns will have an interest in developing skills, knowledge and networks, and contribute to the advancement of heart health equity for Pasifika in Aotearoa New Zealand.The internship will be a ten-week programme involving participation in a fonotaga, followed by a heart health project that will be supervised by heart health researchers and end with a celebration.
