About this Event

This course focuses on “Religious Fundamentalism, Extremism and Terrorism” in all of the world's main faith traditions.

Term 1's topic focused on Fundamentalism and Extremism in the Jewish & Christain traditions, while our Term 2 course examined Islamic Fundamentalism, Extremism and Terrorism. Our Term 3 course now turns to the Eastern traditions of Hinduism, Sikhism and Buddhism for a detailed look at the historical context of fundamentalism, the rise of nationalism, and an examination of the contemporary socio-political context of extrteism and terrorism in each of these three faith traditions. Our Term 4 inquiry will view the topic of Religion and Nonviolence, as well as key figures in each of the main religious traditions, that have worked tirelessly in order to combat fundamentalism and extremism both domestically and globally.

Each Term's eight-week course involves a detailed study of the history, context and contemporary issues of religious fundamentalism, extremism and terrorism in each of the world's main faith traditions.
