Making research “policy-ready”

Sound evidence is necessary, but often not sufficient, for good policy practice. Tim Ng’s talk will offer a practitioner’s perspective on ways in which researchers and policy advisers can better inform decisions under time pressure, shifting priorities and knowledge gaps, and foster more impactful and enduring relationships “across the divide”. Drawing on real-world examples and his first-hand experience, Tim will illustrate the sort of evidence that he has seen make a real difference in policy settings, how evidence interacts with concepts of value for money in decisionmaking, and how to navigate the “machinery of government”.

Date: Wednesday, 30 July

Time: 12.00pm – 1.00pm NZST
