Come join us for a fun workshop and a research sharing that explores the speculative question – what if trans embodiment was a choreography of light?
For the inaugural 2025 Research Residency, val smith (Pākehā, they/them) has been exploring the embodiment of fascia, light and transness in the studio. They are offering a workshop for trans and gender diverse folk, and allies too, that will guide us into some of the questions and ideas emerging through their research. The workshop will include somatic movement, touch and play. There will also be a research sharing that will include discussion after the workshop. You are welcome to attend one or both of these offerings. To reserve your place at val's workshop please click here.
Fascia is a connective tissue matrix that supports and communicates, forming an intelligent, elastic-viscous, shimmering network throughout the body. It is both a structural system and a sensory organ, capable of transforming between solid and fluid states. val has been developing playful processes for embodying fascia that supports collective connection and change states.
