Risk Management in Heritage

This two-day workshop will explore the risk-based approach to collections care and the application of Risk Management in Heritage (also known as the ABC) methodology in practice. The methodology was developed by the Canadian Conservation Institute and ICROOM with other partners.

The course is highly practical, and the participants will work on case studies involving both historic interiors and collections. Through practical exercises, the participants will learn to identify, assess, analyze and evaluate risks to collections based on their significance. They will learn how to use the results of risk assessment in prioritization, cost-effective resource allocation, and strategic planning in care for collections.

This intensive workshop is designed to provide knowledge and foundation to those working in museums, libraries, archives and historic houses in how to effectively assess risk to heritage collections. The workshop will be conducted online through a combination of interactive lectures, case studies, group discussions, and practical exercises, ensuring that participants gain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
