Event description

Description

Matai’a Salatielu (SALA) Tiatia is a NZ born Samoan from the streets; of Otara, Cannons Creek, and now Aranui. While he keeps moving south he just can't leave the 'hood'. Sala is married to his Maori Queen, (Danette Abraham Tiatia) and father of 6 beautiful heart beats – he has continued to work with young people for the last 20 years - 11 of these in Alternative Education.

Sala was 1 of 16 Kiwis to be picked to compete in NZ’s first Survivor – but really has been surviving all his life; through a violent upbringing, a loss of identity in Aotearoa, and a dysfunctional toxic faith. He continued to survive through broken relationships, consequences of bad decisions, and destructive self-talk. Surviving through it all, he's still here. In true pasifika style, Sala is a natural story teller and is passionate about issues dear to his heart: Care and Compassion. Still serving and still growing, he continues to survive, giving of himself to those that need love and support.

Come and join us for Sala Speaks.

To keep you warm and entertained there will be food and drinks provided.

This event is presented by a collective representing The Logos Project, Urban Vision, Praxis, Grace Collective, and others.
