Description

Talofa lava!

We warmly invite you to join us for the first ever - SAMOAN TRANSNATIONAL FA'AMATAI SYMPOSIUM.

The Samoan Transnational Fa'amatai Symposium is an event, funded by the Royal Society of NZ Marsden Fund and hosted by Lupematasila Misatauveve Dr. Melani Anae with the Centre for Pacific Studies at the University of Auckland.

This symposium builds on the existing academic work on Samoan fa'amatai and pushes towards new understandings of social, cultural and every-day fa'amatai practised by inter-generational chiefs. As Samoan communities continue to congregate around the globe, so too does the prevalence of Samoa's unique leadership system. Over the two-day symposium, both local and international scholars, joined by the Fa'amatai Marsden Research participants from Australia, Hawai'i and California will delve into the evolving realm of transnational fa'amatai; its past, its present and its future.

Register now to attend this free Symposium, RSVP before 20th November
For all queries, contact: transnationalmatai@gmail.com.

Please note:The Symposium Programme will be sent out via email to registered attendees. Please visit 'Samoan Transnational Matai Research' on Facebook for Symposium updates.
