Setting up and using Teams for Education effectively

An increasing number of schools in Aotearoa New Zealand are using Microsoft Teams as their learning management system, but how many teachers have actually received training in how to use Teams for Education effectively?

In this webinar, Sam will unpack how to set up Class and Staff teams to ensure that you are able to use these tools to their full potential.

Microsoft Teams is a tool designed separate and focus workflow, and this session will explore what this looks like in a teaching and learning setting.

Learn tricks to create view only folders for resources in teams and how to restrict channels to certain people or groups.

Time will also be spent exploring the ways in which classwork can be assigned to students through Teams and when to use different assignment tools.

This workshop is facilitated by Sam Harris

Sam is a registered secondary teacher, who has worked in schools as a teacher in charge of History as well as an Across School Teacher within a Kāhui Ako (community of learning). In these roles, Sam has worked extensively with teachers on their use of digital technologies in the classroom and has worked collaboratively to establish localised teaching and learning opportunities that are connected and relevant to students lives.

Sam has a postgraduate qualification in digital and collaborative learning and has been a Microsoft Innovative Expert Educator (MIEE). Sam is passionate about curriculum design and is particularly excited about the role that digital technologies can play in transforming teaching and learning experiences through the New Zealand Curriculum refresh and coming NCEA changes.
