Mini Plenary 5: Government as a partner to social enterprise

Members of the public are invited to purchase single session tickets to this Social Enterprise World Forum mini-plenary session.

Debating the role of Local, State, or Central Governments in supporting, enabling, growing and serving Social Enterprise for the good of us all. What are the ways Governments can intervene and support? From taking ownership to co-creating programmes with intermediaries, from financially supporting the sector to evolving policies and regulations - where Governments have supported social enterprises, the benefits are evident. What can we learn from various experiences and initiatives?

  • Hon Alfred Ngaro, Minister for Pacific Peoples, Minister for the Community and Voluntary Sector, Associate Minister for Children, and Associate Minister for Social Housing (New Zealand)
  • Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Under-Secretary General of the United Nations, as the head of United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) (Pakistan)
