Join us to listen to speakers touching on issues involving sexual culture such as consent, trauma, and how we can collectively move forward.

About this event

All ticket proceeds to Women's Refuge NZ. Can't make it in person? We will also be streaming this online as well. We hope to see you there.

Tickets are on a donation basis.

There will also be time to share your own experiences and ideas. *TRIGGER WARNING* this event will touch on difficult topics. We will have free resources available on the night.

SPEAKER 1: KOTTE AGUILAR

Kotte Aguilar has become well-known in the community not only for her yoga, but also for her approach to mental health and wellbeing, she is an educator, speaker and a mentor, helping people achieve their goals but also understand their barriers.

An activist at heart, with fun events ranging from beach clean-ups to mental health discussions, such as suicide.

A Tedx youth speaker, award winner and passionate at everything she does, she will be discussing how to understand trauma and manage a life in which your trauma doesn't define you.

SPEAKER 2: GEORGE HASWELL

Kia ora koutou, ko George toku ingoa. My name is George. I have spent the last 5 years at UC both as a student completing a Bachelor of Health Science and as a staff member in the Student Wellbeing team. I am currently working as the COVID-19 Welfare Manager, in this role I coordinate UC’s welfare response to the current Omicron outbreak. This includes managing a team of callers, and the processes we have in place to provide kai and other essentials to our students who are isolating with COVID. Whilst I was studying here I also worked as a Special Sexual Violence Prevention Facilitator in an ACC contract, which is where my passion for the prevention of sexual violence and early interventions flourished. I am looking forward to sharing my whakaaro (thoughts) on the importance of education in the prevention of sexual violence and the shifts being made both at secondary and also tertiary level education to achieve this.

SPEAKER 3: JESSICA

Jessica is from Cambridge Clinic, which is a specialist medical service for victims who have been sexually assaulted, raped or abused, recently or in the past.
