Singing for Non-Singers - Hamilton NZ
Event Information
Description
Do you break out in a cold sweat at the thought of having to sing Happy Birthday or the National Anthem in public?
Singing for Non-Singers is a fun, friendly and judgement free workshop for people who have always wanted to sing, but feel too inhibited to try.
Perhaps it started when someone in primary school made a teasing comment of “you’re tone deaf”, or a busy teacher told you to stand at the back of the choir and “just mouth the words”. No matter where that inner voice came from, the result is tens of thousands of people in New Zealand who have given up on making music because of a false belief.
It's time to do something for yourself and change your relationship with your voice.
Yes, tone deafness is a real medical condition – but it is much, much more rare than most people think. In the workshop we demonstrate the difference between being tone deaf and simply lacking confidence in matching pitch (which is a much more common and easily improved challenge).
In this fun three-hour session you will gain confidence singing in tune, make real music with a great group of passionate people, and reawaken your voice.
All you need to bring are your questions and a positive attitude. No one will be required to sing on their own, or be put in any kind of embarrassing or stressful situation.
Singing for Non-Singers is strictly limited to forty participants.

Hi Scot, thank you for the wonderful singing lesson last Sunday. I do believe I can sing. I get around the house singing all the time now.

Hi Scot
Just want to tell you how much I enjoyed the workshop on Sunday! It was so much fun, exciting and affirming.
I have to say I was so excited about it that I sang all the way home! and then at church in the evening I opened my mouth and sound DID come out!
Whoever I talk to about your workshop wished that they had gone too! So if you want to do another workshop some time you’ll fill it quickly too.
You have such a gift and are an amazing teacher.
And your partner Kimmy is beautiful and very special too.
