Event description

Description

The SingularityU NZ Summit brings together the world’s top speakers and experts on exponentially accelerating technologies, with the leaders of today and tomorrow from New Zealand and Australia, giving us the knowledge and insight we need to compete -- and win -- in an exponentially changing world.

Why should I attend?

Within the next 30 years, 47-81% of jobs as we currently understand them will be under threat from technology. This includes jobs that have always been considered ‘safe’ from automation. But until we achieve a collective understanding of what exponential technological growth truly looks like -- and how it affects us all -- we won't be able to have the conversations that matter.

What do artificial intelligence, robotics, nanotechnology and crime have in common, and what do they have to do with you? How will technological advances affect our economy, our government, our education system and our healthcare system? Where are the disruptions coming from that we aren't yet talking about? What do these trends mean for New Zealand, for Australia, for the world? And what do we need to do to be able to face them intelligently?

What will I learn?

Sample exponential technology topics include:

  • Goodbye, Linear Thinking; Hello Exponentials

  • Artificial Intelligence

  • Self-driving Cars

  • Digital Biology: Life 2.0

  • The Future of Medicine and Healthcare

  • The Future of Crime and Security

  • Energy

  • Exponential Organisations

  • The Future of Jobs

  • Impact and Disruption

Who are the faculty?

Faculty include:

Neil Jacobstein, Distinguished Visiting Scholar in the Stanford University Media X Program; Chairman of the Institute for Molecular Manufacturing

Marc Goodman, Founder, Future Crimes Institute; Bestselling Author, "Future Crimes"

Nathaniel Calhoun, sits on the Global Impact Faculty of Singularity Unversity, Founder of CODE Innnovation

Ramez Naam, Author, "The Infinite Resource: the power of ideas on a finite planet"

Kathryn Myronuk, one of CNN's 2015 Top 7 Tech Heroes To Watch

Raymond McCauley, co-founder and Chief Architect for BioCurious, the hackerspace for biotech

Dan Barry, NASA Astronaut

...and more!
