Event description

Description

Role playing games are fun! They also encourage team building, creative problem solving, fine motor skills, mental maths, public speaking, diplomacy, performance, social skills, cooperation, creative writing, planning, communication and literacy.

And did we mention fun?

Our experienced Dungeon Masters will guide your kids through their first (or second, or...) adventure, and support them to understand the broad strokes of what role playing games are, how to make the most of your charachter, and working with a team to smite the enemy and emerge victorious!

We welcome kids of all ages, and abilities, but suggest that kids with a reading age of at least 12-14 will get the most out of a session. Please let us know if your kids have any extra quirks or additional needs. We ask parents to hang around during game time, and if your kid wants extra support we can write you in to the story with a supporting role.

Our team are parents of gifted and/or quirky kids, and Dungeon Masters with extensive child wrangling experience, as well as the ability to weave a magical tale, and lead children on an adventure that will spark their imaginations, and inspire their growth.

Once you have booked, we’ll contact you to make sure we have all the info we need to make the event memorable for your child. Please message us on facebook if you have any questions or concerns.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Talk to us! Some older kids might resent hanging out with younger kids, some younger kids might be completely capable of keeping up with the older kids. A broad indication might be - can they pay attention to an entire movie? Can they wait their turn in a game? Can they read and comprehend (Harry Potter, not Tolkien)?. All kids develop at different ages, and we will do our best to match up kids with others that they will connect with and enjoy spending time with.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There is good bus service to the area, and plenty of parking. We also have a lounge area for parents to relax in, and a nearby park for younger siblings to explore if they desire.

What can I bring into the event?

Please make sure your kid brings water, a pencil, eraser and paper/notebook, and a set of polyhedral dice if you have them. Don’t stress if you don’t we have plenty to share. Please feel free to pack some snacks.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

You can contact us through our facebook page, or contact Lara directly on 02040801234 Or lara@nettle.org

What's the refund policy?

Due to the extremely small numbers we can cater to, refunds can only be offered if we are able to fill the space you have vacated within 7 days of the event. Please let us know if the cost is a barrier to attendance, as we value everyone in out community and want to be as inclusive as possible - in the future we hope to have scholarship places available, in the meantime, we’ll do everything we can to make our event inclusive and to remove barriers to participation. If you want to be there, we want you to be able to come.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Bring it if you can, but don’t stress - we’ll have a record of your booking and can look it up for you.
