Event description

Description

The SNUG Committee and Chair Jeff Greenough are pleased to announce the 2018 SNUG Mini-Workshop!

The SNUG Committee has elected to hold the event in Auckland, over one day on the 20th of February 2018.

The format of this Mini-SNUG workshop will be slightly different from previous versions, being an interactive day to discuss signals-related issues that the committee has been working on, including the following topics:

  • Detection
  • Standards consistency
  • Compliance with signals / education of the public
  • Cycle signal infrastructure
  • Pedestrian signal infrastructure
  • Training requirements
  • Signals and traffic management
  • SCATS update

In addition, we will be holding our AGM at the Mini Workshop.

This year's event will be held at Auckland Airport Novotel. Day-catering is provided for all attendees.

The Novotel is a short walk from the Auckland Airport Domestic Terminal. Free parking will also be available at the hotel for SNUG delegates.

As this is a day workshop, there will not be a SNUG dinner. However, there will be optional social networking at the bar after the workshop is finished.

Event Sponsorship is being generously provided by Fusion Networks, and Spunlite Poles.

SNUG is a subgroup of the Engineering New Zealand (formally IPENZ) Transportation Group with the objective of bringing about the advancement of the fundamental knowledge of the art, science and practice of design, operation and maintenance of traffic signals. The field of Traffic Signals and Traffic System Control is moving forward rapidly and the SNUG Workshop is an opportunity for traffic signal engineers, local authorities, traffic systems specialists, contractors, consultants and other practitioners to discuss current developments in Traffic Signals and Traffic System Control.

Look out for further updates on the workshop details between now and February 2018.
