Description
Fermentation and Compost-Making.
It has been said that fermentation and civilisation are inseparable. We certainly use fermentation as a key method in both growing and producing food.
Most importantly this workshop is about making soil, or the fermentation involved in compost making. The foundation of growing your own food is understanding the medium it grows in. This workshop will include all sorts of tips and tricks for compost-making, including a basic intro to bio-dynamics and even how to make a cow-pat pit!
By mastering even the basics you'll increase your yields, flavour and resistence to pests and diseases. It's hard to over-estimate the importance of home-made compost in a food production system.
But we'll also talk generally about fermentation in our food including cheese & other dairy produce, pickles and sour dough.
No prior knowledge needed, just a desire to get stuck in & get those micro-organisms working for you!
