Our annual Roadshow differs this year as we have a sole focus on school finances,professional development topics and Xero/Monty training.

About this event

After being unable to offer Roadshows in 2020, due to the Covid-19 restrictions,

we are pleased to be able to plan travel to most regions this year and offer

professional development seminars – with a focus on school finances.

Current and important topics to be covered include:

Morning session:

- Xero/Hubdoc tips and tricks / latest updates

- Monty tips and tricks / reading reports / latest updates

- ApprovalMax - implementing Bill Review & Approval, and

considering automating Purchase Orders

- Accounting tips and reminders for schools

- Managing prepayments

- Managing internal recoveries

- MOE Kiwi Park model update – data sent to MOE and why

- Preparing ahead for annual accounts and audits - making it easier

- SMS batches to Xero    Latest updates since changes in SMS.

Assembly pulling out of the market, Edge, eTap, Hero development

Afternoon session:

- Tips for budgeting with Monty – limiting double work/Excel files

- Preparing a compliant budget - budgeted balance sheets

- Cyclical maintenance provisions (reliable & latest information)

- Audit process – tips for a smoother audit

- Finance leases and avoiding borrowing breach notes

Principals and Board finance trustees are welcome to attend the afternoon

session. Numbers are limited at some venues so please register early.

The seminar starts at 9.30am with morning tea available on arrival from 9.15am.

At 12noon a light lunch is provided with an opportunity for you to meet other

finance staff from schools. (If you have dietary requirements please email us at to advise.)

Tip sheets and notes will be provided and a lot of important detail will be covered

during the day. Requirements for school annual accounts and audits have

changed, and the seminar includes important professional development.

99% of our schools are now using Xero and components of the Xero appstack,

and so we can now really focus on upskilling and providing time-saving tips.

The fee for the full day is $190 + GST and includes lunch.

If two attendees from the same school register the fee is $170 + GST each.

If there are staff that wish to come for the morning or afternoon only, the half

day fee is $95 each and includes the lunch catering.

Please register via this page and we will invoice your school for attendees.

Sessions will be taken by Sandy Dunn and other members of our team depending

on the venue location. We have advertised two sessions in Christchurch based on

numbers registering in previous years.
